Last week I got to take this whole bride thing for a test drive. I never considered myself to be THAT girl. You know the wedding dress crazy, love getting hair and makeup done type of girl. That might all change. My friend, celeb fashion photographer, Franco LaCosta offered to do a pre-wedding photo shoot for me with a bunch of dresses that he borrowed Kleinfelds, of Say Yes To The Dress fame.
Franco was able to arrange a photo shoot at the Zeze Floral Shop on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, but before we started taking pics, I had to get all dolled up. For that, Franco arranged with his fun-loving and fashionable friend Peter for me to get changed at the home of 9X Tony Award winner (sounds a little like, Rommy Rune). When I got to the beautiful penthouse apartment, the dresses were festooned over every doorway. A lot of these dresses were not exactly the kind that I would choose for myself and I LOVED that! Many of them were unbelievably bejeweled and I once I got a chance to see some of the price tags I understood they other reason why I might not exactly pick these for myself. They were WAY out of my price range (but I am sure worth every penny).
T Cooper, my new stylist friend hooked me up by taming my crazy head of hair and Franco consulted on every detail.
A little champagne loosened me up and got me in the mood to doing a little RuPauling, it can be so nerve wracking to be photographed.
Here are a few of the final pics that Franco took, I can’t believe how beautiful they turned out!!! Full disclosure, (there was a little bit of photoshopping going on, namely the -no amount of Zumba will get rid of- back fat). You may also notice, that in this first picture, my hands were cropped out. It might be because I have been called “man hands” and “gorilla hands” even by my closest family, and it really doesn’t bother me. I love my hands! They are hard working, get down and dirty hands! Sandpaper hands or not, they are the only ones that I’ve got and I love ’em!
Then we dragged Stephen out of work to do a couple of shots together. Yes, he IS wearing a red shirt with a tuxedo jacket and bow tie…but it doesn’t look half bad!
I love this one of us, I can’t wait to make our love official on May 19th!
It was one of the funnest days of my life!
