Evette Rios: My Renovation of My Parent's home Post Sandy! - Design -

My Renovation of My Parent’s home Post Sandy!

Published on June 11th, 2014

I am beyond thrilled to announce that my parent’s are finally back in their apartment after Hurricane Sandy displaced them on 29th of October, 2013. It took an entire year to get their place together. Between insurance issues, getting rid of dangerous mold in the apartment and just the general delays of renovation, the entire project took almost an entire year! But they are finally home and the entire renovation was profiled in the February 2014 issue of Better Homes & Gardens Magazine, here is the article below!!!!

I am most interested in finding information about one of the pictures in the BHG article on page 62. The picture of the Chinese princess has also hung in my grandmother’s home for all of mine and my mother’s lives. Since my grandmother was from Astoria in the early 1900’s and I from San Diego I have no idea the history of this work of art or who painted it. Seems as though it came from the New York area, however. Anything you could tell me to enhance my search would be greatly appreciated as I have combed the internet for years looking for a print or article. Voila, I open a magazine and there it is. Please write to me to tell me what knowledge you have of this painting.
Thank you very much it will mean so much to me,
    Pam

I absolutely LOVE the linen fabric FAIRFAX IN BLUE PAISLEY that you recovered the chair sitting across from your dad’s coffee table and want to get a few yards to recover a chair I have. Can you give me a phone number, website, whatever I can use to order some of this fabric? I live in a small town and we do not have anyone that does interior design work. Could you please, please help me find this fabric?

You have my e-mail and my phone numbers are 704-735-6741 or cell 704-618-1699. (I live in Lincolnton, NC)

I know you are probably very busy but if you could find a way to help me I’ll try to sing your praises to anyone that will listen to me!

Hi Evette – You did a great job on your parents home. Your father’s coffee table is terrific; do you have any recommendations were I can find something similar. You might consider manufacturing your own version of this versatile coffee/dining table. I’m sure apt/small home dwellers would love them! Marina

Evette, you did a spectacular job decorating your parents home. WOW! For years I have been searching for the perfect chair to set at my island. You found it. Is it possible for you to share the name of your supplier. You have my email address – and my eternal gratitude for information shared!

    You are good!

Hello Evette, Your parent’s kitchen in Better Homes and Gardens has become my inspiration photo for my kitchen redo. Can you help me out with the cabinetry information? I finally located the colors and cabinet information at the back of the magazine, are the lower cabinets painted? Is the Harbor Mist a taupe or a dunes type of color? I looked up Schuler Cabinetry and could not locate the colors. And, is the Cottage White a stark white or more of a creamy white? The name of the door style would be helpful also. You did a beautiful job of all the rooms. Your parents are blessed to have something so beautiful develop out of such a terrible tragedy. Thank you. Judy
